Ikkis, a 100% Rotten Tomatoes anti-war film on Prime Video
Ikkis has begun finding an audience on streaming, recently reaching the global Prime Video charts on FlixPatrol. The film opened to highly positive reviews earlier this year but struggled at the box office, where it was overwhelmed by a holdover hit with the opposite political philosophy.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis—Hindi for "21"—frames its story against a war that affected billions while focusing on an under-discussed conflict. Agastya Nanda stars as Arun Khetarpal, a real-life soldier who died at 21 in the 1971 India-Pakistan War; Dharmendra plays his grieving father and passed away a few weeks before the film's release.
In the story, the father makes a cross-border journey to Pakistan to visit the spot where his son died and is hosted by a Pakistani army veteran; they form a bond despite the long-running tensions that date back to the 1947 Partition.
