Ilia Malinin Skated His Final Olympic Gala in Balmain Jeans
For his final skate at the Winter Olympics in Italy, Ilia Malinin traded a spangly body suit for a hoodie and dark Balmain jeans from Olivier Rousteing's 2025 men's resort collection. The jeans, which feature a white biker-print motif, retail for $1,290; he paired them with a hoodie sold by the rapper NF that bore the word "fear" upside down, and NF's song "Fear" provided the gala soundtrack.
A Balmain spokeswoman said the brand had not been involved in dressing Mr. Malinin but added, "Truly honored that Ilia worn Balmain." Rousteing, who left Balmain last fall after a 14-year tenure, designed the jeans; his successor, Antonin Tron, will show his first collection for the brand next month during Paris Fashion Week.
Rousteing's Balmain had reached new audiences when its designs were embraced by cultural figures like the Kardashians, Michelle Obama and Barbie. The exhibition gala is a noncompetition event, and for the 21-year-old Mr.
