I inherited 25,000 vintage hats — I turned it into a business
Scottlynn Krause and her mother launched CS80 Vintage after inheriting a warehouse of untouched 1980s sportswear from a family friend, Franz. He had boxed up his store’s inventory, which sat in a storage unit from 1990 until 2021, and they were given 16 days to clear it so the house could be listed.
They did not buy the stock; removing it was the trade. The haul was enormous: roughly 10,000 pairs of shoes, 25,000 hats, 2,500 pairs of baseball pants in about 1,000 square feet, from brands such as Nike, Adidas, Puma, Converse, Playboy, Pony, Champion, and Wilson, plus NFL, NBA, NHL, and collegiate team gear.
Scottlynn and her mom started selling at a flea market in early 2022 and later expanded online, launching a website in December 2025. They now run twice-weekly drops of 25 items, first-come, first-served, and list only about a tenth of their collection. They store the inventory off-site, pull pieces to their studio, then measure, photograph, and upload each listing themselves.
