Intel confirms Core Ultra refresh with new 200S Plus gaming CPUs
Intel has officially launched a refresh of its Core Ultra lineup, introducing the Core Ultra 5 250K/KF Plus starting at $199 and the Core Ultra 7 270K/KF Plus starting at $299. Both models will arrive on March 26 and use the same LGA1851 motherboard socket as the original range.
Robert Hallock, VP of Intel’s Client Computing Group, called the new Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus desktop processors “the fastest desktop gaming processors Intel has ever built,” saying they nearly double content creation performance versus the competitor and bring “exciting new technologies” for gaming platform setup and optimization.
One of those technologies is the Intel Binary Optimization Tool, described as a first-of-its-kind system that increases instructions per cycle (IPC) even when a workload was optimized for a different processor, game console, or earlier architecture. Intel says this prioritisation of processed information should boost efficiency for gaming and content creation.
