Inter continue to monitor Roma midfielder Manu Koné, a recurring target as the club prepares for a significant midfield overhaul. With Henrikh Mkhitaryan potentially leaving at the end of his contract, Hakan Calhanoglu being courted by Galatasaray and Davide Frattesi’s future uncertain, the Milanese side faces expiring deals and the need to refresh its engine room.

Fabrizio Romano said on his Italian YouTube channel that it is far too early for any transfer talks, but Koné, born in 2001, remains a top target. Sporting director Piero Ausilio and manager Cristian Chivu rate the French midfielder highly — he is seen as an ideal signing to add temperament and protection for more creative players.

Inter pursued Koné in August 2025, but Roma shut the door, with Gasperini and the club’s ownership publicly ending talk of a move. Roma are clear they will not offer discounts: any club interested in Koné must present a substantial sum.
