Inter Miami held to goalless draw by Nashville in Champions Cup first leg

Inter Miami were forced to settle for a frustrating scoreless draw with Nashville SC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup last-16 first leg. The game produced little in the way of chances — the teams combined for just five shots on target — and Lionel Messi was kept surprisingly quiet for long spells.

Nashville were the more assertive side early on. Sam Surridge tested goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair twice, with St. Clair producing two solid stops, while Miami dominated possession without creating clear-cut opportunities and Messi had scant involvement in the first half.

The match opened up after the break. Messi found pockets of space and linked play more effectively, but German Berterame missed the half's biggest chance, firing wide with the goal gaping after escaping a red for a woeful challenge. The tie will be decided in the second leg.
