Inter v Atalanta: Sulemana and Dumfries collide as Inter protest
Inter v Atalanta was played on Matchday 29 of the Serie A season on Saturday 14 March at 3.00 pm. The match referee was Manganiello, with assistants Passeri and Rossi L., fourth official Colluvar, Gariglio and VAR Chiffi.
In the 27th minute Pio Esposito’s goal stood after Atalanta appealed for a possible handball by Dumfries; the ball came to a halt and the Dutch full-back touched it with his chest.
At 83 minutes Inter protested Krstovic’s equaliser. Sulemana pressed Dumfries, who went down in the penalty area, but Manganiello waved play on and the Atalanta striker shot, with Sommer unable to prevent the Macedonian centre-forward’s tap-in. Protests followed and Chivu was sent off; the VAR review confirmed the on-field decision.
More protests came in the 87th minute when Frattesi beat Scalvini to the ball and Scalvini made contact after the ball had already been played away, but Manganiello again waved play on.
