Invincible creator says fans will finally get what they want in season 4
After three seasons of universal, multiversal threats, Invincible raises the stakes again in season 4 with the arrival of Thragg, the Grand Regent of the Viltrum Empire. Voiced by Lee Pace, Thragg is a moustachioed menace who makes Omni-Man look like an also-ran.
Effectively the show's Thanos, Thragg presents a threat so large it will take the assembled might of Mark, Nolan, Eve and plenty more to stop him. Co-showrunners Robert Kirkman and Simon Racioppa say the escalation of the Viltrumite subplot has been a long time coming and was planned from the start.
The Viltrumite invasion has been hinted at since Omni-Man massacred the Guardians of the Globe in the first episode, but Conquest's arrival at the climax of season 3 turned the near-unkillable Viltrumites into a clear and present danger. "Lee Pace is just the greatest," Kirkman says.
