Apple launches iPhone 17e with A19 chip and 256GB base
Apple unveiled the iPhone 17e, a more affordable addition to the iPhone 17 lineup that brings several upgrades over last year’s entry-level model but does not include Dynamic Island. The phone is powered by the A19 chip—the same processor used in the standard iPhone 17—and includes a new C1X cellular modem.
It has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display that reaches up to 1,200 nits of peak HDR brightness, supports Dolby Vision, uses Ceramic Shield 2, and carries an IP68 rating with an aerospace‑grade aluminum frame. On the back is a single 48‑megapixel Fusion camera that relies on computational photography for an optical‑quality 2x zoom, improved Portrait mode with automatic depth capture for people, dogs and cats, and 4K Dolby Vision video at 60 fps with spatial audio and wind‑noise reduction.
The phone adds MagSafe and Qi2 for up to 15W wireless charging, retains USB‑C wired charging (about 50% in 30 minutes), and delivers all‑day battery life.
