Nearly 700,000 people have been driven from their homes in Lebanon as Israel continued a wide-scale bombing campaign, including in southern Beirut. U.S. and Israeli strikes also hit targets in Iran, and fighting has slowed ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, a conduit for about one-fifth of the world’s oil.

Bahrain said an Iranian attack struck a residential building in its capital; the United Arab Emirates intercepted drones and missiles; Israel continued striking Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon; and a U.S. Patriot air defense system was deployed in Malatya province.

The day followed similar fighting the previous day, when U.S. and Israeli forces again struck Iranian sites while Tehran launched missiles and drones at neighboring countries. Turkey said NATO defenses shot down a ballistic missile launched from Iran. Israeli forces pushed into southern Lebanon and bombarded Hezbollah strongholds.
