Iranian regime-linked handler investigated over alleged death threat
Australian police investigated a complaint involving Mohammad Salari, the Iranian regime-linked handler for the country’s football team, after activists said he threatened to kill them at a Women’s Asian Cup match last week. Queensland police confirmed an incident at Cbus stadium on 5 March and said a complaint was received; investigations are continuing.
One anonymous protester said: "He turned around and looked at us and then drew a line on his throat and pointed to us." She added: "I don’t understand how he got on to Australian soil." The inquiry has renewed calls from the Iranian diaspora for tougher immigration screening to block people linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
