The Boys returns for its fifth and final season on April 8, but the franchise isn't going away. There's a third season of the spinoff Gen V in the works, along with the prequel Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico. One offshoot that apparently won’t be continuing is the animated anthology The Boys: Diabolical.

Franchise-runner Eric Kripe said it had been canceled in a 2025 interview, but showrunner Simon Racioppa says the series wasn’t technically canceled — there simply was never a plan beyond season 1. "It was always supposed to be a single one-off. It was basically done," Racioppa said.

"We did it in 10 months, just basically as something to give the fans something to watch because the main series was delayed because of the pandemic and nobody knew what was happening." Released in 2022, The Boys: Diabolical spanned a wide range of tones and animation styles across eight episodes.
