Israeli president arrives in Sydney as Coalition frets over poor polls
Israel’s president Isaac Herzog has arrived in Sydney for a four-day visit to speak to survivors of the Bondi terror attack and their families. He touched down this morning with his wife, Michal Herzog, and was met at the airport by ambassador Amir Maimon and his wife, Tal; the assistant minister to the prime minister, Patrick Gorman, was also there to receive them.
A court hearing this morning will decide whether planned marches against the visit can go ahead at Sydney Town Hall and whether they contravene the New South Wales government’s public assembly declaration. The Coalition has reunited after nearly three weeks apart but remains unsettled.
