Janet Jackson clashes with brother Jermaine at Michael biopic screening

The Jackson family gathered quietly in Los Angeles for what was expected to be a triumphant moment: a private screening of the upcoming biopic Michael. More than 60 family members packed the showing, which stars Jaafar Jackson and hits theaters on April 24. At first the mood was electric as relatives laughed, clapped and leaned forward when the film recreated Michael’s rise from child prodigy in Gary, Indiana, to global stardom.

When the lights came up, Janet Jackson began dissecting the film with what people in the room called brutal precision, criticizing the performances, the makeup and even how the actors walked. “She had something negative about almost every scene,” said one person present.
