JBL Live 780NC let iPhone users access Auracast via app
JBL has introduced the Live 780NC headphones with a refreshed design, upgraded Bluetooth connectivity, longer battery life and new audio tuning. Their standout addition is built-in access to Auracast broadcasts from the JBL Headphones app, which creates a workaround for iPhone users that otherwise lack Auracast support.
Other Auracast-enabled headphones such as Sony's WH-1000XM6, Google's Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Samsung's Galaxy Buds 4 Pro require an Auracast-capable smartphone and use the device's Bluetooth settings to access broadcasts, leaving iPhones out of luck because Apple does not enable Auracast.
Sennheiser's RS 275 TV bundle also supported in-app Auracast and could find nearby broadcasts on an iPhone despite the device being technically incompatible. The Live 780NC add EQ settings, noise cancellation and more advanced microphones, making them more versatile than the Sennheiser option for everyday wear.
