Jeep Wagoneer S is the brand's first EV designed for U.S. buyers
The Jeep Wagoneer S is the brand’s first electric vehicle designed for American buyers, arriving into the highly competitive midsize SUV segment. It is not Jeep’s first electric model overall—Europe has been able to buy the subcompact Jeep Avenger, a model the source said will surely never see American roads.
The Wagoneer S uses a Stellantis purpose-built EV platform shared with the Dodge Charger. It measures 192.4 inches (4,886 mm) long, 74.8 inches (1,900 mm) wide, and 64.8 inches (1,645 mm) tall. Designers combined Wagoneer styling cues with aerodynamic elements: the car’s drag coefficient is 0.29 and the published CdA is 8.67 sq ft (0.805 m2), with a rear wing intended to reduce turbulent wake.
The battery is a 100.5 kWh lithium-ion pack, rated at 294 miles (473 km) on the EPA cycle. The Wagoneer S Limited, tested in mid-December and priced at $65,200, uses two electric motors for 500 hp (400 kW) and 524 lb-ft (710 Nm); the earlier Launch Edition was more powerful and more expensive.
The Wagoneer S is positioned slightly larger than vehicles such as the BMW iX3 and Audi Q6 e-tron and somewhat smaller than rivals like the Cadillac Lyriq and Acura ZDX. The brand and its Stellantis sibling Chrysler recently shelved all their plug-in hybrids, and the model arrives as electrification in the U.S.
