Jeff Bezos denies Polymarket claim about advice to young entrepreneurs
Jeff Bezos denied a Polymarket post that said he had told aspiring Gen Z entrepreneurs to work at companies like McDonald’s or Palantir before starting a business, Beincrypto reported. On January 22, 2026 Bezos replied to Polymarket’s post saying he had never made such a claim. A video from Italian Tech Week surfaced showing Bezos offering career advice to younger entrepreneurs nearly three months earlier.
In that talk he said, "I always advise to young people— go work at a best practices company somewhere, where you can learn a lot of basic fundamental things," and noted, "I started Amazon when I was 30." The video did not include the company references Polymarket named. The episode renewed scrutiny of prediction markets using social media to share unverified or misleading news.
Polymarket previously published a "breaking" post claiming Iran’s security forces had lost control of some large cities; the outlet said the post contained disputed or inaccurate claims yet it drew nearly 7 million views, 17,000 likes and 2,000 reposts. Kalshi posted that the United States and Denmark had formed a working group on Greenland, a post that received 2.8 million views while the White House and Denmark offered differing accounts.
