Jeff Kaplan says 'Shut the f*** up. No one cares' about games you won't play
Jeff Kaplan, the former Overwatch director now working on the western survival game The Legend of California, spent 10 hours on Kintsugiyama’s Twitch channel this weekend playing the game and told critics, “Shut the fuck up. No one cares.”
On stream he described seeing commenters who are “hostile” and “rude” about games they don’t play and have no intention of playing. He said he understands being upset and voicing opinions, but argued that if you’ve never played a game your opinion doesn’t matter.
Kaplan added that as a developer who has led teams, he simply ignores that kind of noise. He said shouting won’t make a developer scrap a project to build the game you want and is more likely only to get you ignored.
Now at Kintsugiyama, Kaplan has been speaking more plainly; he previously explained he left Blizzard after growing pressure to reach certain revenue numbers, which he said risked layoffs being placed at his feet, and is now working on The Legend of California.
