Former Dead Kennedys singer Jello Biafra was rushed to the hospital after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke, his record label, Alternative Tentacles, said in an Instagram statement Monday. The label said the stroke was 'caused by high blood pressure.' Biafra, 67, elaborated on the incident in his own statement.

He described waking in the night to go to the bathroom when his left leg collapsed beneath him. 'I hopped out of my bed because I needed to pee, and my left leg just collapsed under me and I fell to the floor,' he said, adding that his left arm was not working and that he realized, 'Oh sh-t, I’m having a stroke!' Alternative Tentacles said Biafra is 'currently hospitalized but stable' and that the 'Alternative Tentacles family' is thankful he is getting the care he needs.
