A strawberry soft cream cake from Paris Baguette was served at a birthday dinner for Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang near the company’s Santa Clara headquarters last Saturday, The Korea Times reported, citing an interview with Paris Croissant. Huang, who turned 63 on Feb 17, invited about 30 engineers behind SK Hynix’s DRAM and high-bandwidth memory to a fried-chicken restaurant called 99 Chicken.

Korean business newspaper Hankyung said Huang told Nvidia staff to “organize a dinner to encourage SK Hynix HBM engineers” and urged SK Hynix to “Please supply the highest-performance HBM4 without a hitch.” At one point he personally prepared and served somaek — a mix of soju and beer — to guests, and for about two hours he went table to table thanking them, Hankyung wrote.

Paris Croissant described the cake as a “vanilla cake filled with soft cream and fresh strawberries, topped with more berries,” and called its appearance at Huang’s party “a total boon without costing us anything,” saying the moment was symbolic for the brand.
