Jeremy Allen White's Rotta Mirrors Adonis Creed in The Mandalorian & Grogu
Jeremy Allen White joins The Mandalorian and Grogu as the voice of Rotta the Hutt. Rotta was introduced as a baby in 2008's Star Wars: The Clone Wars; in the new trailer the adult Rotta appears as a muscular slug gladiator, a far cry from the baby Ahsoka Tano nicknamed 'Stinky.' Jon Favreau said his inspiration for Rotta was Adonis "Donnie" Creed, not just as a fighter but in how he wrestles with his father's legacy.
"When you’re trying to establish yourself and your name is famous, when you’re Jabba The Hutt’s kid, what does that do? How has that affected his trajectory? I get a kick out of that... [Rotta’s] in top form, fighting in the pits, a gladiator of sorts." The comparison carries extra weight: Adonis is the son of Apollo Creed, played by the late great Carl Weathers, who also played the role of Greef Karga in The Mandalorian.
