Jeremy Jacquet forced off with shoulder injury after £60m move
Jeremy Jacquet appeared to sustain a serious shoulder injury during Rennes' clash with Lens, days after confirming his move to Anfield. The Reds have agreed a deal worth £60 million to sign the centre-back this summer, but he now faces a significant lay-off. Jacquet was escorted off by Rennes' medical staff after screaming in pain and carrying his arm in a makeshift sling fashioned from his shirt.
During his time on the pitch he completed 28 accurate passes of 32 attempted and lost two duels. Reds boss Arne Slot said the club acts with long-term thinking and expects Virgil van Dijk, whose contract runs until 2027, to remain with the team for that period and perhaps longer if he stays fit.
Slot also described Jacquet as 'a very big talent' and praised the club's model of signing young players who can improve the side in the short and long term.
