When images from the set of the Disney+ series Love Story: John F Kennedy Jr & Carolyn Bessette were teased on social media in June, viewers complained the styling was wrong. Executive producer Ryan Murphy defended the look as “a work in progress” and brought in a new costume designer, Rudy Mance.

Nine months on, the internet has done a U-turn: fans are now emulating the couple’s 1990s looks and searches for “Carolyn Bessette style” have risen by 150% on Google. The easiest Kennedy Jr copy is the backwards baseball cap.
