John Harbaugh to interview with New York Giants on Wednesday
Cbssports reports that former Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh will interview with the New York Giants on Wednesday — his first in-person interview since being fired. The Athletic says team owners John Mara and Steve Tisch are expected to attend the meeting, and Giants executive Chris Mara met with Harbaugh for an informal lunch at his home on Sunday.
Harbaugh was fired last week after 18 seasons in Baltimore and has had preliminary phone calls with the Giants, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans, Sports Illustrated reported. Tyler Sullivan reported that Harbaugh's top choices are the Giants and Falcons.
The Giants are the only current opening that can hire a coach immediately after satisfying Rooney Rule requirements, and NFL Media reported there is a chance Harbaugh "does not leave the building." Harbaugh is expected to be thorough as he decides which teams to visit and interview with; more in-person meetings are expected.
