Warner Bros. will return to the Wizarding World in 2027 with a television reboot of Harry Potter that is planned to run across seven years, with Season 1 adapting Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Young actors Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton will play the central trio, while A-list performers fill the older wizard roles.

John Lithgow has been cast as Professor Albus Dumbledore, a role previously played by the late Richard Harris and Michael Gambon in the films and by Jude Law in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. He told The New York Times he nearly declined the part after considering J.K.

Rowling's openly ant-trans commentary and facing online backlash to his casting.
