John Obi Mikel likens switch to Pixel 10 to choosing Chelsea over Man Utd
John Obi Mikel told Goal he is fronting a new campaign for the Google Pixel 10 and likened his decision to switch phones to his 2006 choice to sign for Chelsea despite an earlier agreement to join Manchester United.
He recalled holding a five-hour meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson and being unveiled as a Red Devils player in a Nike shirt, only for the decision to be reversed and for him to head to Stamford Bridge. Mikel said the campaign’s message is “Don't be scared to switch things up, don't be scared to go with your heart, to make your own decisions, to create your own lane,” and reflected that Chelsea “wasn't the biggest club in the world” at the time, adding “It took us nearly 15 years or so to be able to create what the club is all about today.” He also said he has no regrets, calling it the “Right decision” after winning the Champions League, the Premier League and other trophies with the club.
Ozgur Kirazci, Senior Marketing Director for Google UK, described the January transfer window as a major moment and said the campaign highlights the benefits of switching to the Pixel 10, which he said has Pixel's most powerful chip, an incredible camera and Gemini built in. Fans can follow the campaign and #TransfertoPixel this January by trading in their old phone and claim up to an extra £300.
