John Romero adores Ghost Recon and logged 3,000+ hours in World of Warcraft
John Romero, co-creator of Doom and other classic shooters, is working on Hellion, a new Doom 2 WAD that follows Sigil and Sigil 2, and on an unrevealed FPS with Romero Games that was salvaged after the studio lost funding. His current go-to is Arc Raiders, which he plays with a friend or alone for personal progression.
He appreciates its take on the battle royale formula—more PvE against Arc bots with time pressure rather than constant player pressure. He’s also addicted to Balatro on PC and mobile and says he still hasn’t completed everything. On his PC he keeps everything he’s made since 1982, including Dodge 'Em, one of his earliest titles.
His highest playtime is in World of Warcraft: "I have probably 3,000-plus hours in WoW. God, I lived in that game every day for five years." He studied the game while making an MMO and spent years raiding and optimizing characters.
