John Terry: 'I hate Spurs' after childhood treatment by Tottenham fans
Chelsea legend John Terry told fellow former team-mate Petr Cech on the debut episode of Big Pete that his dislike for Tottenham remains as strong as ever. "I hate Spurs. It's really clear," he said, adding that being at a club for so long makes it part of you.
He traced the feeling back to his early days at Stamford Bridge, recalling that "the Spurs fans were shouting and throwing things. That stayed with me." Terry also pointed to Chelsea’s record in the fixture during his time: "During our time we never lost a home game against Spurs." Terry revealed a more personal side when talking about family loyalties.
"All my family are West Ham fans – my dad, my uncles," he said, remembering how, after scoring against the Hammers, he could see them in the away end "and they were abusing me!" he added with a smile. Beyond rivalries, he reflected on Jose Mourinho’s 2004-05 title season, noting the defensive standards and dressing-room culture that produced 24 clean sheets.
