Jon Favreau Compares Jeremy Allen White’s Rotta To Apollo Creed’s Son
Rotta, the baby Hutt who first appeared on Clone Wars, returns as a grown warrior in the upcoming Mandalorian film, now played by Jeremy Allen White. In the first clear look at the character he’s bulked up, wielding two battle axes and bearing the scars of a disciplined regimen rather than the usual sluggish Hutt posture.
Director Jon Favreau likens the new Rotta to Adonis “Donnie” Creed, asking what it means to establish yourself when your name is already famous—especially if you happen to be Jabba the Hutt’s child. White says he brushed up on Huttese, and Favreau suggests this incarnation will speak more widely than most Hutts.
Baby Rotta debuted in The Clone Wars after being kidnapped by an uncle and rescued by a Jedi. While Hutts are typically organized criminals with a slimy thumb on the galaxy, Favreau describes this Rotta as a gladiator of sorts, fighting in the pits and clearly a departure from his species’ usual behavior.
