Jon Stewart mocks Trump after Truth Social post listing him as 'Acting President of Venezuela'
Jon Stewart mocked President Trump on Monday after Mr. Trump posted a screenshot on Truth Social showing his Wikipedia entry listed him as the "Acting President of Venezuela."
On "The Daily Show," Stewart asked, "Doesn't your oath of office to America have a noncompete?" and quipped, "Did you somehow Trump Casino the United States?" He also joked about presidents taking second jobs: "We’ll all be president somewhere, if Wikipedia will have us."
Other late-night hosts also ridiculed the post. Seth Meyers said, "Not many people can say they were the worst president in the history of two countries," and Stephen Colbert listed other purported self-declarations. Comedians tied the joke to recent White House meetings: Jimmy Fallon noted that Mr. Trump had hosted oil executives to discuss Venezuela and that the Exxon CEO told him the Venezuelan market is "uninvestible."
The remarks were collected in the New York Times' Late Night Roundup, where several hosts continued to riff on the Truth Social screenshot and the White House meetings; the report does not provide further response from Mr. Trump or from Wikipedia in relation to the post.
