Instead of traditional vows, Kahn composed his by stringing together lyrics from 18 songs that, he said, told the couple's love story — beginning with “We were both young when I first saw you….” and ending with “This I promise you.” The newlyweds were introduced into the reception by a 20-piece Jordan Khan Music Company orchestra to Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl,” followed by their first dance to NSYNC’s “This I Promise You.” A 12-horn brass band played the recessional and led guests into cocktail hour, later accompanying a limbo contest on the dance floor.
Guests dined on a menu that included a dim sum cocktail hour and matzo ball soup based on the grandmothers’ recipes, while decor by Gro Designs evoked an Aspen orchard canopy with a chuppah and 20-foot-tall trees at the table centers. During the reception Kahn serenaded Ritter with Michael Bublé’s “I Only Have Eyes for You,” which shifted into a dance arrangement, and later surprised her with a new family puppy as “Who Let the Dogs Out” played.
The celebration continued with a “second line” led by the horn musicians to a lobby-bar afterparty with DJ Greg Garman.
