The Portuguese Football Federation is reportedly poised to offer Jose Mourinho the Portugal manager's job after the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, once Roberto Martinez’s contract expires at the end of the tournament. Mourinho returned to Benfica in September on a two-year deal, but ESPN says the FPF will try to lure the 63-year-old into the top international role.

Should he leave Benfica, the report names recently sacked Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim as the most obvious replacement, noting his nine years at the club as a player and his success at Sporting CP. Mourinho has long said he wants to move into international management.
