Joseph Duggar appeared 'off and distant' before arrest

A Duggar family insider said Joe and his wife Kendra had seemed 'off and distant' from the rest of the family in recent weeks, leaving relatives in disbelief. The source added that the family remains sensitive after what happened with Josh and cannot imagine reliving that again.

Joseph, 31, was arrested Wednesday and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior involving a victim younger than 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior toward a victim aged 18 or older. He is being held at Washington County Jail in Fayetteville, Ark., and is being extradited to Bay County, Fla.; Bay County authorities accused him of molesting a 9-year-old girl in Florida in 2020.

The now-14-year-old told investigators Joseph asked her to sit next to him on a couch, covered them with a blanket and touched her privates, and that he rubbed his hands on her thighs. Officials said Joseph confessed when he was confronted by the victim's father.
