Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 sidelines its protagonist

There are only three episodes to go before Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Part 1 concludes. The third season is split into two cours and will cover all 83 chapters of the Culling Game arc; MAPPA has altered pacing and taken a more artistic, streamlined approach.

Part 1’s 12th episode is set to air on March 26. Episode 9 resolves the Yuji Itadori–Hiromi Higuruma conflict: Higuruma adds a rule allowing players to transfer points and gives Yuji one point to keep him in the Game for the next 19 days. After that sequence, the anime shifts its focus back to Megumi Fushiguro’s confrontation with Reggie Star, though MAPPA may offer brief callbacks to Yuji before Part 1 ends, as it has with Satoru Gojo.

In the manga, the Yuji–Higuruma segment ends in chapter 167, then Fumihiko Takaba appears and the story moves into messy skirmishes and larger battles. A move to Sendai Colony sets up Yuta Okkotsu’s fight with the special grade cursed spirit Kurourushi. Episodes 10 and 11 are expected to cover the Megumi vs.
