Justin Timberlake has sued the Village of Sag Harbor seeking a court order to prevent the public release of bodycam footage from his June 2024 traffic stop and arrest. The recording is currently part of a Freedom of Information Act request filed by members of the media, and the filing asks a Suffolk County Supreme Court judge to block its release.

The lawsuit contends Timberlake was shown “in an acutely vulnerable state” and that the video captured “intimate details” of his physical appearance, demeanor, speech and conduct during the field sobriety test, arrest and confinement. His attorney, Michael Del Piano, argued that disclosure would cause “severe and irreparable harm” to Timberlake’s personal and professional reputation and expose him to “public ridicule and harassment,” while serving no legitimate public interest.

The petition names the Village of Sag Harbor, the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and Chief of Police Robert Drake as respondents.
