Kane and Salah hit 50 Champions League goals

Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah both reached the 50-goal mark in the Champions League on Wednesday, each playing a key role as their teams booked places in the quarter-finals. Kane's milestone arrived during Bayern Munich's knockout tie with Atalanta. He opened the scoring from the penalty spot to take his European tally to 49, then produced a rapid turn inside a crowded box and fired a shot past the goalkeeper to bring up his 50th.

Lennart Karl and Luis Diaz added later goals as Bayern won 4-1 on the night and 10-2 on aggregate; they now face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals. At Anfield, Salah reached his half-century with a trademark curling strike against Galatasaray in the 61st minute.

After driving at the retreating defence and shifting the ball onto his left foot, he curled the effort into the far corner — a vintage finish that made up for an earlier penalty miss — as Liverpool progressed 4-1 on aggregate and prepare to meet PSG in the next round.
