Karakeep uses AI to tame browser tabs and bookmark chaos
Karakeep turns a messy pile of tabs and bookmarks into a searchable, organized archive using AI-generated keywords and summaries. You can try a populated demo at https://try.karakeep.app (login demo@karakeep.app / demodemo) or run the app in the cloud or on your own server.
The self-hosted version runs as a Docker container on Windows, Mac or Linux and is free and open source; the cloud option is easier to set up and lets you start with up to 10 bookmarks. A $4-per-month Pro plan unlocks AI features, 50GB of storage and up to 50,000 saved items, while Karakeep can also save screenshots, PDFs and full text for archival safety.
AI features require an API key from your chosen provider. Karakeep generates tags and summaries during import and everyday use; the author notes using OpenAI via API for tagging, with examples of modest incremental costs during a large rescan and estimates in the docs that tagging 3,000 articles can cost about a dollar.
