Kate Middleton trades the crown jewels for $50 earrings

Kate Middleton has access to one of the most exquisite jewelry collections, but she chose a simpler accessory for an event in Leicester. She wore a white knit dress and a custom coat, in keeping with Holi’s call for white clothing. On Thursday she was presented with a “mala,” a necklace made of pearls and bright red roses.

Instead of reaching for diamonds, she opted for a pair of Sézane earrings that were on sale for $50. The sold-out pieces originally retailed for $130 before the discount and feature etched gold-plated discs, each with four jeweled drops cascading from the base.

Middleton was first spotted wearing the earrings on Christmas Day 2022 and later pulled them out for a royal visit to Birmingham in 2023; she has also worn her custom Chris Kerr coat before, most memorably during Christmas 2023. Recycling outfits is familiar territory for her.
