Kate Walsh mourns 'Grey's Anatomy' co-star Eric Dane

Kate Walsh penned a tribute on Instagram after the death of her Grey’s Anatomy co-star Eric Dane, writing, “I’m at a loss for words to try to express the sadness around Eric’s passing.” She said she was thinking first and foremost of his girls and Rebecca and was “holding them in my prayers and my heart.” Dane died at 53 following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Walsh played Dr. Addison Montgomery in Seasons 2 and 3 (2005–2007); Dane joined the show in Season 2 and left at the beginning of Season 9. Walsh recalled her first scene with Dane—an elevator scene at Seattle Grey’s—which she believes was his first on the show.
