Kathie Lee Gifford told the Tomi Lahren Is Fearless podcast that she finds The View far meaner and more polarizing than it was in earlier years, saying there is a new "viciousness" in public discourse. She added, "There’s just more of us — and we’re meaner now," and observed that people generally seem "miserable" these days.

Gifford recalled being able to appear on The View and have civil conversations with Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, and noted that she remains friends with former co-host Debbie Matenopoulos. She said she shares her faith but does not proselytize — "I don’t say, ‘You’re going to go to hell if you don’t,’" — and expressed a wish that people might have "a little bit more heaven in their life than hell." She also described herself as "joy personified." Current hosts of The View include Goldberg, Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

The daytime series has drawn attention over the years for on-air spats and behind-the-scenes tensions.
