Businessinsider reports that Olympic champion Katie Ledecky, based in Florida, follows a simple eating routine to fuel about four hours of training a day split into morning and afternoon sessions.

She typically wakes at 5:00 a.m. for a 6 to 8 a.m. practice and eats a quick, light snack before that—usually an oatmeal packet and a banana—then has a Core Power protein shake after the session. Ledecky aims to eat a full meal within an hour of finishing practice and usually has a breakfast of two eggs in a vegetable omelet with cheese, plus toast and fruit. She said she does not strictly track daily protein: "Over the years, I've kind of learned what I need because it does sometimes change, if I'm doing well or if I don't feel like I'm doing well."

Lunch is often leftovers, a salad, or chicken before a second two-hour practice, and she snacks on berries during the day. Dinner is her main meal-prep time and is protein-focused — "might be steak, might be chicken, might be a hamburger, might be pasta" — and she sometimes treats herself to frozen yogurt, ice cream, or pastries. Since graduating from Stanford in 2020 she said her class-free schedule gives her more time to rest and cook, and she keeps mornings routine: "My morning is pretty much set. I don't even have to think about it very much."
