Kelli Giddish on Her Sisterhood With Mariska Hargitay on SVU

Season 27 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has been a wild ride, and Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is reunited with her longtime partner Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish). Rollins briefly left in Season 24 to become a criminology professor, then returned to the NYPD as an Intelligence Unit Sergeant and was transferred back to the SVU.

She slid back into the squad with panache and reconnected with her A.D.A. husband Sonny Carisi (Peter Scanavino). Giddish told NBC New York in March 2026 that coming back felt like coming home: "I'm so happy to be back, it’s like a little family there... It’s great, absolutely great to be back." She added that working with the crew and cast is "like riding a bike," and that even amid the show’s dark subject matter the team shares a common language and lots of laughter.
