Season 29 of The Voice, Battle of Champions, introduces a major remix to the competition: for the first time ever, a voting block made up of super fans and past Artists will sit in the studio and cast real‑time votes during the Semi‑Finals and Finale, ultimately determining the champion.

Kelly Clarkson called the change “exciting,” noting, “The voting is now in-house. This is the first season that the voting is in-house. That's never happened,” and she said getting live feedback from the crowd is a “cool” new aspect. She added that the live room feels different from what viewers see on TV and admitted she is both “excited” and “nervous” about the shift.

John Legend pointed out how live performance affects sound — “it doesn't sound as quite as good — it never has, it never will — when you're in a room. Nothing replaces that” — and teased that there are “no weak links” among the Season 29 Artists and Coaches, with the level of competition elevated across the board.
