Kelly Clarkson Missed The Voice Battle Rehearsals; Jennifer Hudson Stepped In
After winning the powerful Super Steal following The Voice: Battle of Champions' all-new Triple Turn Competition, Kelly Clarkson entered the Battles with a key advantage over fellow coaches John Legend and Adam Levine. On the March 16 episode she said she could not attend rehearsals but was excited to have Jennifer Hudson help out.
Hudson, an EGOT winner and former coach on the show, served as an alumni coach during rehearsals, leaving detailed notes and guidance for Team Kelly. Clarkson reviewed video footage of Hudson's work and praised the advice she left for the singers.
When performances began, Clarkson paired Mikinley Brown and Liv Ciara on H.E.R.'s Focus and named Brown the winner. Legend and Levine both used regular steals on Ciara, but Clarkson then used her Super Steal to keep the artist, saying she was not going to let her go and that she was ready for the Battle of Champions.
