Health Secretary Kennedy kicks off national health tour in Harrisburg, says he’s not running
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. began a national “Take Back Your Health” tour with a rally at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg, where he said his new dietary guidelines were “not perfect” and told supporters, “I’m not running for president.” The appearance in the Capitol rotunda had political overtones: the crowd included red Make America Great Again caps and a Trump impersonator, and Mr.
Kennedy was flanked by Republican lawmakers who have embraced his agenda. Inside the building he displayed an upside-down food pyramid with the slogan “Eat real food,” and outside members of a local Indivisible chapter waved anti-Kennedy signs. Mr. Kennedy used the event to praise President Trump for working to lower drug prices and to laud red-state legislatures that have enacted parts of his platform, which he calls Make America Healthy Again.
His priorities include adding whole milk to school lunches and restricting how SNAP benefits can be used; the article notes 18 states have obtained waivers to impose such SNAP restrictions, while Pennsylvania has not. Pennsylvania Republicans have proposed a “Healthy PA Package” with measures including bans on certain food dyes in school lunches and disclosure requirements for some chemicals — proposals Mr.
Kennedy has championed. The rally came two weeks after Mr.
