Kevin De Bruyne returned to first-team training at Castel Volturno on Monday, ending a 128-day absence that began after a hamstring tear suffered against Inter on October 25, 2025. The 34-year-old, who required surgery after the injury occurred while he was converting a penalty, took part in a high-intensity session under medical supervision and was seen smiling as he rejoined team-mates.

Much of his recovery was spent in Belgium with family and specialists, and he flew back to Italy last week. It was his first first-team session since the operation; he posted images from the session and received thousands of messages from supporters. Before the layoff he had scored four goals and provided two assists in 11 competitive games.

Medical staff have managed his reintegration carefully, but he featured in full-contact work, tactical drills and small-sided games with no obvious hesitation when striking the ball or accelerating.
