Kiefer Sutherland was arrested on Monday in Hollywood on suspicion of assaulting a ride‑share driver, according to Los Angeles police.

Police said officers responded to a call shortly after midnight and alleged that the suspect entered the ride‑share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver and made criminal threats, according to a statement. The driver did not sustain injuries requiring medical attention.

The 59‑year‑old actor was taken into custody and released a few hours later after posting $50,000 bail, law enforcement said. Court records show he has a court date scheduled for 2 February, and Sutherland’s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment from AFP.

Sutherland is known for playing Jack Bauer in the television series 24 and for film roles including The Lost Boys, Stand By Me and The Three Musketeers. He is the son of actor Donald Sutherland, who died in 2024.
