Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested and booked in Los Angeles after an encounter that the Los Angeles Police Department said involved him assaulting a ride-share driver and making “criminal threats” near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood.
The LAPD said officers responded to a call at about 12:15 a.m. on Monday. The department’s statement said its investigation determined Mr. Sutherland had entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver and made “criminal threats,” and that officers arrested him at the scene. The police said the driver did not sustain injuries requiring medical treatment.
County jail records available online show Mr. Sutherland was released after posting a $50,000 bond and has a court date scheduled for Feb. 2. A representative for Mr. Sutherland did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
