King Charles' planned April White House visit faces issues
King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to make a state visit to the White House at the end of next month, hosted by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, to help kick off celebrations for America’s 250th birthday. The visit has been described as a much-needed soft-power balm amid rising tensions between President Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the Iran war.
Planning is ongoing but still faces issues that could hinder the trip. A palace official said “all trips are subject to government advice,” adding that “planning and preparation continues.” Officials have limited the visit to three days because the king is still undergoing cancer treatment, and the royals are expected to visit New York City as well as Washington, DC.
