Daniel Vávra, co-founder of Warhorse Studios and a lead on Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel, has reportedly stepped down as creative director to focus on a live-action adaptation, CzechCrunch reports, with translations by DeepL and Google. Warhorse CEO Martin Frývaldský says Vávra's new role is to create a live-action Kingdom Come film and that Vávra is working on the script himself.

The studio has long planned to expand the franchise beyond games — Kingdom Come has appeared in concerts, comics and tourism — and the big screen has been the most attractive option. Frývaldský says negotiations are underway and Warhorse does not simply want to sell the rights; the team aims for any film or series to match their vision.

He also confirmed Vávra will not lead future game projects as he shifts focus to the adaptation. Warhorse hopes the adaptation reaches a similar global audience to the games: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 sold over a million copies in its first 24 hours.
